A manufacturer has developed a process for embedding wood fibers into the interior surface of PVC extrusios so that the surfaces may be stained or painted. This is an embeddment process and not a laminating process. When impact testing is performed on the composite product the substrate passes the requirements in AAMA 303 for impact resistance but the wood emulate embeddment does not. The surfaces to receive this treatment are always interior surfaces. The manufacturer wishes to certify the extrusion profiles under AAMA 109.
