This standard categorizes drained and back ventilated rainscreen (D&BV) wall cladding systems based on the quantity of air flow/ventilation and water entry into the wall cavity outboard of the air/water barrier. Structural performance of D&BV wall cladding systems is not included in the scope of this test method. This standard does not address pressure equalized rainscreen wall cladding systems (PERs), face sealed systems or drained cavity walls. AAMA 508 addresses the performance of PERs.
